Opel unveil full details of Manta GSe ElektroMOD

Specs for the all-electric Opel Manta GSe blends classic looks with cutting edge tech in its ElektroMOD.

The retro EV has had its traditional engine replaced with a 147 hp electric motor, sending power to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox, so it can be driven as a manual or, thanks to the 255Nm of torque, drivers can leave the car in fourth gear and use it as a single speed.  It’s powered by a 31kWh battery with an estimated range of 200kms. An on-board 9kW charger takes four hours to get to 100%.

The restored car’s new image reflects Opel’s digital focus, as the Manta sports the ‘‘Pixel Visor’ front grille, an evolution of Mokka’s Visor grille. As seen in the new Mokka, the ‘Pure Panel’ – will once again feature.

The Manta’s analogue clocks and dash have been replaced by a 12” screen. Opel has equipped the GSe with a Bluetooth box from amplifier manufacturer Marshall which should be good for blasting those classic Pantera tracks.

There’s also a retro 70’s three-spoke steering wheel, and a central yellow stripe inside to match the Neon yellow paintwork on the outside to complete the retro throwback.
