All-new BMW X2 and iX2 | Industry News

Based on the X1, the new X2 sports activity coupe range kicks off with the mild-hybrid sDrive20i, powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and a small electric motor. The combined power will produce 168bhp and 280Nm of torque; enough to propel it from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. CO2 emissions are rated between 136/km and 148g/km, while BMW says it averages 43.5-47.1mpg on the WLTP combined test cycle.

The new BMW X2 will be priced from €55,350, with the iX2 xDrive30 starting from €69,500 RRP. Order books are now open at Irish BMW retailers, with the first deliveries expected to begin in March 2024.

The high-performance X2 M35i xDrive swaps the three-pot for a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine generating 296bhp and 400Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a seven-speed Steptronic transmission, but the M35i adds BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system into the mix, helping it sprint to 100km/h in 5.4 seconds. All of this power leads to increases in speed, CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

While the iX2 is the battery-powered version. The xDrive30 version features dual-motors powering all-wheel drive with a combined power output of 309bhp and 494Nm of torque it can get from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. There’s a 64.8kWh battery which should get ranges of up to 450 kms. Using a rapid charging speed of 130kW, a 10 to 80 per cent top-up of the iX2’s battery could take around 30 mins. An 11kW wall box will fill the 64.8kWh battery in 6.5 hours, while a 7.4kW unit will do it in 10.5 hours.
