Skoda celebrates 125th Anniversary with positive Annual Press Conference

Skoda celebrates its 125th anniversary since incorporation this year as well as its 30th anniversary with the Volkswagen Group. Acknowledging the great work of his predecessors Thomas Schafer, Chairman of the board of management, now looks to Skoda’s future with long term Co2 targets, expansion and their core market share in the Electric car market. Skoda has also put in its bid to be part of the Gigafactories announced by VW, looking to host such facilities in the Czech Republic.

Skoda announced a challenging but successful 2020, delivering 1 million vehicles worldwide despite the pandemic while also supporting health services in a bid to support the ongoing battle. Skoda donated 100 Octavia’s to social and medical aid services. The carmaker also recently established its own vaccination centres in order to vaccinate their staff also.

The Enyaq iV heralded the new dawn for Skoda, with priorities now switching to expand the existing model portfolio, with more entry level variants to be included in their lineup and Skoda will look to continue to provide affordable mobility in the form of the sucessful Combi.
Ambitious Green Future goals have been set, starting with their first Co2 free production facility which opened last year. Investments of around €2.5 billion Euros in cutting-edge technologies will be carried out over the next five years, with round €1.4 billion euros funding the expansion of e-mobility. ŠKODA AUTO is stepping up its digitalisation activities by spending €650 million euros, and a further €350 million euros will be invested in the plants and production facilities to ensure profitable growth.
