Peugeot launches multiple variants from award winning range for 2020.

The Peugeot 3008, 2018’s Irish Car of the Year, was at the time, only available in Petrol or Diesel but now there is a hybrid version available, a plug-in hybrid version in fact. Now it gets a battery and it can even travel on pure electric power alone. Also recently launched, is the new Peugeot 208 which was crowned the 2020 Car of the Year in Geneva.

With a 13.2 kw/h battery and a 1.6 litre petrol engine, the 3008 Hybrid4 will travel up to 40 miles on pure electric power alone. When the battery runs out, you’ve then got the petrol engine which runs just like the standard car. There are two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear axle which gives the 3008 hybrid a total system output of 296 BHP. It’s also all-wheel drive but you can still get a two-wheel drive 3008 hybrid which emits just 29 g/km of Co2.

As for exterior looks, there are no real differences to point out between the hybrid and the non hybrid versions of the e-208, 3008 Hybrid4 and 508 Hybrid versions. There are a couple of hybrid badges and there is an extra flap for the charging ports but apart from that you can’t tell the difference between standard and hybrid or e-versions. Inside the hybrids it’s just like the outside, you can’t really tell the difference between standard and a non hybrid bar a few added info screens for electric info.

Within the shortcut keys contains a lightning bolt, which brings you to a new hybrid specific page of the infotainment systems. Battery information and charge settings are stored here, there’s also a function called ‘save’ which forces the battery to reserve a certain amount of charge so that if later on in your journey you want to use electric power you can make sure that you haven’t used it up already.

All in all it’s a terrific range, between the design and modern looks, Peugeot are really offering their customers a wide range of options, in not only SUV guise but exemplary saloon’s, small hatchbacks and all with the option of Petrol, Diesel, Electric and Hybrid.

The all-new e-208 starts at €27,334, the 3008 PHEV starts at €37,995 in Allure trim and the 508 Allure PHEV starts at €38,900. All prices include the SEAI and VRT grants.
