OPEL & Mondello Park launch EARLY-DRIVE Programme.

The EARLY-DRIVE | Electrified by Opel course has launched at Mondello. Its aim is to introduce 13 to 17-year-olds to driving and road safety awareness. It not only instills a good mindset towards driving but creates an awareness to make them safer drivers, pedestrians and cyclists until the time when they can start actually driving on public roads. No previous driving experience is required and the courses are available for school groups and individuals.

Students get practical and theoretical track sessions, with the course delivered in a fun and safe learning environment. Before any driving starts, there’s a Road Ready session which includes theory test practice questions and a guide on how to apply for your driver’s license. Then after all of the book work is complete, the students hop into a dual controlled electric or petrol Opel Corsa, both are automatics. With an instructor, students learn steering control, acceleration, braking techniques, parallel parking, reversing, spatial awareness and observation skills.

As many may already know, there’s a fantastic museum on site and as part of the course, a tour of Mondello and of Irish Motorsport is available with Le Mans, NASCAR and Formula One cars comprising the Martin Birrane Collection.

With credentials from the ISM (Irish School of Motoring), they have put a lot of thought, effort and planning into the program. Many an Irish person learned to drive in Opel’s Corsa and the tradition follows on with the latest Opel Corsa as Mondello Park recently took delivery of five Opel Corsa’s including two all-electric Corsa-e models.
