Cupra Born revealed in full

Spanish performance brand Cupra has unveiled its first electric car.

Up front there’s a short bonnet leading to a fared-in radiator grille. Around the side the large quarter light windows lead back to the tailgate spoiler. The Born EV also features a lowered ride-height, 20” alloys, aggressive front and rear bumpers, finned side skirts.

Inside there’s a pair of figure-hugging bucket seats, a digital instrument binnacle, floating 10” infotainment screen and touch-sensitive controls for the car’s heating and ventilation system. It also features an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel. Some extra tricks up its sleeve include a head up display and an integrated heat system that won’t draw energy from the car’s battery.

A 201 bhp electric motor powers the rear axel giving it a 0–100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds. Using 100kW DC charging, you can get to 80 percent charge in 47 minutes or get 260 kilometers of range in just 30 minutes. When you’re not constantly flooring it, the 82 kWh battery pack should give a range of up to 500 Kilometers.
