Nissan launches 3rd Gen Qashqai

Nissan has launched the third generation Qashqai which will now only be available with mild-hybrid petrol engines. The 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol is an evolution of the existing engine in the current car, with improvements such as added efficiency and upgraded technology.

The revised 1.3 turbo unit will be available with either 138bhp or 156bhp. As standard, both will come with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox, while the higher-power unit is also available with four-wheel drive and auto gearbox.

In 2022 Nissan will introduce its e-Power hybrid system to the Qashqai range in the form of a 1.5-litre, 155 BHP petrol engine with an electric motor.

The new Qashqai’s size allows for 504 litres of luggage space, an increase of 74 litres over the previous model.

There’s a new nine-inch infotainment system, with a host of connected services, live traffic information and a speed camera location service and fuel price comparisons which sounds very handy indeed.

Few cars have made such an impact on a brand’s fortunes as the Qashqai has for Nissan. Since its launch in 2007 the brand has sold more than three million across Europe alone, this third generation looks set to gain ever more wins for the Japanese car maker.
