2020 facelift for BMW M5 Competition

Following hot on the heels of the 2020 exec saloon 5 Series, the M5 Competition is powered by a 616bhp 4.4-litre V8 engine with a 0–100 km/h of just 3.3 seconds.  Power is fed to all four wheels via an eight-speed auto gearbox with a setting that can send 100 percent of the engine’s power to the rear wheels.

In Ireland the M5 Competition will be priced from €169,020. Cosmetic updates include a reprofiled bonnet, new front bumper, front splitter, new adaptive LED headlamps, daytime running lights and a new kidney grille.

Around the back, there’s new LED tail lights, a tweaked diffuser, revised bootlid and a new twin-exit exhaust system fitted with the M Sport dual-branch and flap-controlled M Sport exhaust system.

Inside the M5 there’s a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a larger infotainment screen. Comfort comes in the form of electrically adjustable sports seats and sun protective glass as standard. The as always excellent Harmon/Kardon stereo, head-up display and Alcantara headlining can be ticked as optional extras. Technology Plus pack adds heated seats & steering wheel, soft close doors and seat massage function. The M5’s Ultimate Pack adds carbon fibre engine cover and Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. Buyers can also opt for a range of M Performance extras, such as coilover suspension and carbon fibre aero components.
