A €50m investment in ELECTRIFI, an Irish start-up which converts classic cars to electric power, wants to go further & employ a team of 150 people to develop a new car by 2020. It will be the first car to be built in Ireland for 40 years. 50 new jobs will be created as part of the investment.

Due to the electric conversion, the cars may be quicker and cleaner but they will no longer have the engine howls they were once so well known for. On the upside, for those who are not mechanically minded, it means they will get to enjoy a classic car on a daily basis as the number of problems with old engines and parts is reduced.

Prices and spec of the new electric car are yet to be announced. But by 2020, ELECTRIFI hope to have us engaged in a brand new chapter of the Irish motor industry.
